Singer and Paulding native Caleb Hutchinson will perform in Dallas at Veterans Park, located at 240 Constitution Blvd in the Relay for Life event on Saturday, May 17th. Hutchinson has picked up a few pounds, is bearded and has longer hair and often wearing a cowboy hat since his initial flourish of success in 2018. He honed his craft while attending South Paulding High School and went on to score on American Idol in May of 2018, finishing as runner-up to Maddie Poppe.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is recognized annually. First observed in October 1981 as a national “Day of Unity,” Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is held each October as a way to unite advocates across the nation in their efforts to end domestic violence. In Paulding County, Sheppard’s Rest deals daily with victims of domestic violence and works to help them transition out of an adverse circumstance. Katelyn Abeln, a graduate of South Paulding High School, is heading to Paris this summer to compete in her very first Olympics. Abeln will get a shot at helping her team to victory this summer. But then, at 23, she has a lot of experience with shot-taking and will compete in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol on July 27 and the Women’s 25m Sport Pistol on August 2.
