PHOTO PROVIDED Melissa Baker initially was planning to put her 12-foot skeleton in the garage when the ceiling was complete for storage before next Halloween. After receiving a threatening anonymous letter in the mail against the skeleton followed by an outpouring of support for the Halloween decoration, she decided to dress up “Skelly Bones” for Valentine’s Day and will continue decorating him for holidays year-round.
Loved ones keep Jared’s Golden Heart alive

DALTON A two-part fundraiser is going on Nov. 2 for the Dalton Fire Department, and organizers are hoping not only to make this an annual event but to grow it. A member of the fire department and his wife, a dedicated local runner who completed the Boston Marathon this year, is directing a new race in town. The avid running couple also is gearing up to run the Columbus Marathon this month with other local running friends. And they’re looking forward to bringing a new race to Dalton.
