The United States pulled out their remaining troops from Afghanistan in 2020 after years occupying the country, cementing the country to Taliban rule. The new ruling government has instituted a number of new rules centered around their form of strict religion. Their new form of government has included changing education for the roughly 30 million citizens of the country. The focus, however, has been within women’s education, and specifically, the lack thereof.

On Thursday Nov. 14, legislators in the New Zealand parliament staged a protest to the Treaty Principles Bill. When asked their vote on the proposed bill, 22-year-old Māori Party representative Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke began the ceremonial dance, with other legislators from her party and others from the Green and Labour parties and some in the general audience joining. This culminated in Maipi-Clarke tearing up a copy of the bill in front of the author.

Elizabethtown College has welcomed a Division I All-American athlete as an assistant coach for the cross-country and track and field teams. Stefanie Cassel, who graduated from Edinboro University, started this year as an assistant coach at Etown. Cassel got her bachelors in exercise science from Edinboro and has her masters in exercise science and physical education from the University of New Mexico..

The string of political texts that campaign offices sent to Pennsylvanians during the 2024 elections was not unwarranted, as in true swing state fashion, the commonwealth flipped red across the majority of elections at the national and state level. In the presidential election, President-elect Donald Trump had a margin of nearly two percentage points, the Associated Press data shows, as opposed to 2020, when current President Joe Biden won the state by just over 1%.

As the Catholic Church and the Vatican have to deal with controversy after controversy, it  came as a surprise to many when they released a new mascot for the church. And yes, churches can apparently have mascots. Luce, meaning light in Italian, is a short blue haired girl dressed in a raincoat and boots and drawn in a Chibi, an art style of short characters with big heads and short limbs.
