With over thirty years of experience in corporate journalism, Dave Cathey, also known as The Food Dood, has embarked on several new projects. The 2025 James Beard Foundation Awarrds were named last month, and among the semifinalists for Best Chet: Southwest was Tahnee Francis, whose Nigerian concept Naija Wife’s Kitchen, is making waves from its home in the Robinson Renaissance Building food court. Francis Oklahoma City nominees Kevin Lee of Birdies, Olivier Bourzerand of Fait Maison, Zack Walters of Sedalia’s Oyster & Seafood, and Eric Smith of The Crown.

Change is a constant challenge because evolution is real. When Nonesuch was named Best New Restaurant in America by Bon Appétit in 2018, it shone a light on Oklahoma City’s culinary landscape that felt written in permanent marker. Long gone is founder Todd Woodruff and chef Colin Stringer has found a home at Sedalia’s. Last year, Woodruff sold Nonesuch to the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurateurs of the Year.

You know it’s too late to say Happy New Year when emails like the one I got from A Good Egg Dining today. The email in question was a bit of a surprise in that previous conversation with A Good Egg president Keith Paul led me to believe this sad day might have come sooner. And that is the sad day coming very soon, Feb. 1 to be exact, when we bid bon voyage to The Drake Seafood and Oysterette. Final dinner service comes on that evening, read the email.
