The Good Men Project
The Good Men Project® offers a perspective on what modern masculinity could be in today's world," praised the media when we first launched. Our goal was to spark a global discussion on the meaning of being a good man in the 21st century, and with over 3 million monthly visitors joining in, we seem to be achieving that. Founded in 2009 by Tom Matlack, the project began as a way to gather stories about pivotal moments in men's lives. Tom found a common theme in the experiences shared by these men: each had a moment of realization where they thought, "I believed I understood what it meant to be a man and to be good, but now I see I have much to learn." These narratives not only transform the writers but also resonate deeply with readers. Our mission is to uncover perspectives you may not have even realized were hidden.

How to Repair Your RelationshipIn a previous article I talked about how the sign of a great relationship isn’t that you ‘never fight’ — it’s how well you repair. And that research shows that our brains are wired for the cycle of harmony-disharmony-repair from our earliest moments. But we are not taught how to repair effectively. It’s also just plain terrifying and hard — I know I avoided repair like the plague most of my life. I thought it meant I had to admit I was a bad person or that I was wrong.

I have stopped dating for three years and counting. I became frustrated after putting in 100% of my effort, only for the other person not to appreciate what I had done and simply take my acts of kindness and love for granted. Worse still, I was furious when someone kept claiming how she had been victimised in her previous relationships, yet I later learnt that she was the exploiter.

I used to be a hugger. A tree hugger and a people hugger. Definitely before COVID. And before about a fourth of the U.S. voting population, who actually voted, lost its entire mind this year. That’s right. I’m one of those people. I believe in climate change and climate warming. I like trees and wild animals and prefer they not die in wildfires or be eliminated for more high rise apartment and office buildings. I believe children should be housed and fed, wherever they live on the planet.

Before the article, here’s what’s happening this week on our podcast, Personal Finance for Long-Term Investors:I originally wrote this in 2021 (31 lessons in 31 years). But here in 2025, I’ve had a crazy busy week and not enough time to write a brand-new article. Perfect timing though! My birthday is Saturday, so let’s just update this post for 35 years!Last year, I wrote about the amazing growth that can occur in a single decade. Here’s that article: A Lot Can Change in Ten Years.

When we engage in a new dynamic, it feels exciting. You’ve most likely “put yourself back out there,” given dating another chance, and there’s a chance you’ve found someone you connect with. Okay, Tunde, plug in the piece on this being the wrong approach and break down what I did wrong. That’s not what I am here to do!I am here to tell you what potentially will go wrong if you don’t move forward with the correct approach and understanding the behaviors and values you value in relationships.
