According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Texas woman, Claudia E. Ramirez, 50, around 10:23 a.m. on May 4. Ramirez was fatally injured when the 2024 BMW motorcycle she was driving struck the 2009 Ford Econoline driven by Richard L. Pitchford, Jr., 34, of Foley.

A Fort Dale graduate and 20-year educator and coach, Watts has spent the last 13 years building the athletic program at his alma mater, assuming the position vacated by Eric Folmar. “I feel incredibly honored to step into this role, especially following the leadership of Coach Folmar and Coach Speed,” Watts said.
