The GW Hatchet
The GW Hatchet is a student-run newspaper that operates independently in both its editorial and financial aspects, catering to the community of The George Washington University located in downtown Washington, D.C. Since its inception on October 5, 1904, it has become the second-oldest newspaper still in operation in the District, following The Washington Post. The Hatchet is published weekly on Mondays throughout the academic year. In 2018, it earned recognition from the Associated Collegiate Press as one of the nation’s top online college newspapers, receiving the prestigious Newspaper Pacemaker award, which honors excellence in college journalism through comprehensive coverage, quality writing, in-depth reporting, engaging columns, impressive design, and striking visuals.
