The occupational therapy program in the School of Medicine & Health Sciences graduated its inaugural cohort over Commencement weekend. Joyce Maring, the executive associate dean for health sciences at SMHS, said officials launched the doctorate program for occupational therapy students in 2022 after regional clinical partners expressed a need for qualified occupational therapists.

Public health officials gathered at the Milken Institute School of Public Health on Monday for a two-part panel discussion on combating misinformation and rebuilding trust in medical institutions. Experts in public health spoke about improving medical messaging and said public health officials and doctors need to connect and better relationships with communities who are skeptical of public health outreach due to years of poor communication from health officials.

An international affairs student organization is launching a working group this month for students to develop policy proposals for Ukrainian government officials. The Alexander Hamilton Society at GW’s Ukraine Working Group, which is set to run from January to late March, will consist of a group of about 10 to 20 students who are passionate about international affairs and interested in Ukrainian policy and the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.

More than 75 students from universities across the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region gathered in Duques Hall Thursday night to discuss whether the U.S. should cease aid to Israel. Students from GW, University of Maryland and Georgetown and George Mason universities on both sides of the debate took turns sharing why they believe the U.S. should or should not continue funding Israel as it continues its military campaign in Gaza.
