Experts in public health spoke about improving medical messaging and said public health officials and doctors need to connect and better relationships with communities who are skeptical of public health outreach due to years of poor communication from health officials.

An international affairs student organization is launching a working group this month for students to develop policy proposals for Ukrainian government officials. The Alexander Hamilton Society at GW’s Ukraine Working Group, which is set to run from January to late March, will consist of a group of about 10 to 20 students who are passionate about international affairs and interested in Ukrainian policy and the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.

More than 75 students from universities across the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region gathered in Duques Hall Thursday night to discuss whether the U.S. should cease aid to Israel. Students from GW, University of Maryland and Georgetown and George Mason universities on both sides of the debate took turns sharing why they believe the U.S. should or should not continue funding Israel as it continues its military campaign in Gaza.

A Republican member of Congress discussed his experience being at the first assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during an event at the School of Media & Public Affairs on Wednesday. Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) said he was in the front row at the July 13 Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was shot in the ear and two people died after being shot by a gunman perched on a roof not far from where the former president was speaking.

A student group that launched in August is aiming to reduce food waste from restaurants and food insecurity on campus by distributing free food at pop-up events. Sharing Excess GWU, a campus chapter of a national organization based in Philadelphia, plans to distribute excess food donated by local restaurants and stores to students for free.
