Government spending is out of control not only on the federal, but also at the state level. Taken together, California and New York’s proposed budgets surpass half a trillion dollars. New York’s budget was $175 billion in 2019. It’s now $254 billion. That’s an added $79 billion or 45% increase in six years. That’s up by $100 billion from $140 billion a decade ago. New York State Dems added $100 billion in spending in a decade and $79 billion in six years.

Israel is holding a mass casualty drill in advance of the upcoming Lag B’Omer celebrations taking place Thursday night and Friday at the Tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron. Two large-scale drills simulating mass casualty incidents at the site will take place Monday night and Tuesday afternoon. The exercise, involving Israel Police and Fire & Rescue Services along with Magen David Adom (MDA), will simulate terror attacks, rocket fire, crowd stampedes, and road closures among other scenarios.

The month of May is Stroke Awareness Month, marking a medical crisis that is the third most common cause of death in Israel, and the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. Each year, some 18,000 people in Israel experience a stroke, but only 40 percent receive advanced disability-preventing treatments within the available time window. The main risk factor for stroke in Israel is high blood pressure.
