The Journal of Music

The Journal of Music is an Irish online magazine focused on the music scene. It features detailed news, reviews, and opinion pieces, along with a well-frequented section for event and opportunity listings. Originally launched in 2000 as a bimonthly print magazine, the Journal of Music released a total of 60 issues before transitioning entirely to an online format. In 2010, it received the Utne Independent Press Award for its outstanding coverage of the arts. Today, it is recognized as a premier source for music journalism and criticism, offering extensive insights into various genres such as traditional and folk, classical and contemporary, improvised and popular music, as well as opera. The magazine is funded by the Irish Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
