The Metter Advertiser
The Metter Advertiser made its debut in 1912, emerging from the efforts of Metter, Georgia's residents to establish their own county. At that time, Metter was still under the jurisdiction of the larger Bulloch County. To ensure their concerns were addressed in the General Assembly, local leaders chose to create a newspaper. This led to Metter becoming the first, and perhaps the only, city in the United States to own a newspaper.
