On Wednesday night, the UC men’s basketball team traveled to Boulder to face the Colorado Buffaloes at Coors Events Center. The Bearcats needed a win, having lost their last four games, while Colorado was also seeking a victory after a loss against West Virginia. Both teams battled hard, but in the end,Cincinnati secured the win with a 68-62 final score.

After taking a tough loss to the Baylor Bears this week, the Bearcats needed a win to make a comeback. On Saturday, the Cincinnati Bearcat welcomed the Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas was coming off two back-to-back wins, so a victory Cincinnati would solidify their third in a row. Unfortunately, Cincinnati would take their third loss in a row against Kansas. The Bearcats continue to show they can compete in the Big 12, but there is still room for improvement.

The Big 12 conference is regarded as one of the toughest in college basketball, featuring numerous teams that display talent and toughness. Cincinnati has already suffered two straight losses within the conference. On January 7th, the Red and Black hit the road to take on the Baylor Bears. Both teams needed this win, as Baylor was coming off a 74-55 loss at Iowa State. While there were some positives to Cincinnati’s performance, the game also highlighted some areas of improvement.

Cincinnati and Baylor were both looking to avenge tough losses to conference foes on Tuesday night. However, Baylor (10-4) would be the ones to avenge their loss, beating the Bearcats (10-4) 68-48 in Waco, Texas. The 48 points were the least for the Bearcats since the team lost to Houston in the 2023 AAC tournament. Only two players were in double figures for Cincinnati, those two troopers being Dan Skillings with 18 and Aziz Bandaogo with 11.

DefenseCarroll played in two seasons as a Bearcat, tallying 31 total tackles with six pass deflections. Taylor was one of the top kick and punt returners in the nation from 2020-22 but was seldom used as a Bearcat.
