The City of Owen Sound says it “continues to make significant progress on its Climate Action Strategy” less than two months after members of the public voiced sharp criticism for years of inaction at the public budget meeting in January. In a March 10 media release, the City claims over half of the planned initiatives in its Climate Mitigation Plan are either completed or currently in progress.

EDITORIAL OPINIONThe City of Owen Sound has finally lifted the Significant Weather Event (SWE) designation it declared on February 12, 2025—nearly a full month ago. We talked about the slow snow removal in late February, both in a letter to the editor and in this op ed. I had no idea the City was still operating under this SWE until they made the legally required announcement on March 10 that it was ending.
