For Ronald and Janice Johns, of Millbury, it is something they wish they did not know. Their home, located on Collins Road, is now a flattened piece of real estate thanks to the June 5 F-4 tornado that ripped through Millbury. “It has been tough,” Janice said, choking back tears.

Oak Harbor senior Tyler Thompson was named the Northern Buckeye Conference's Athlete of the Year, while his teammate, Wyatt Augsburger, earned the distinction of being the Athlete of the Meet as the duo led the school’s boys track & field team to a league title on May 16. It was the third consecutive conference championship for the Rockets, and the second in a row in the NBC. Oak Harbor finished with 139 points, just ahead of Eastwood, which came in second with 133 points.

The Oak Harbor girls track and field team captured the Northern Buckeye Conference Championship on May 16. The Rockets accumulated 163 points, which was ahead of Eastwood in second place with 129.5. Genoa and Lake finished fourth and sixth, respectively, as a team. "What was really cool about the NBC records was that it didn't just come from one individual,” Oak Harbor coach John McKitrick said. “It took 10 girls to work together to accomplish those five records, four of them being relay records.

So much for 67 years worth of records. In the past week, Lake senior Luke Steep broke two school records in the 1,600 meters (4:26.24) — at the Otsego Tim Downey Invitational — and the 3,200 (9:59.61) at a tri meet with Rossford and Otsego. Steep's time in the 1,600 beat Marc Quigg's record of 4:27.95 by less than two seconds, which had stood for 30 years, and his 9:59.61time in the 3200 was just over three seconds faster than Al Adams' time of 10:02.96, which stood for 37 years.

Oak Harbor, Eastwood and Lake find themselves in the thick of the Northern Buckeye Conference baseball race. The Flyers, who are coming off an appearance in the Division III state final last season, and the Eagles find themselves tied atop the league with Maumee at 7-2 – as of May 7. Overall, Eastwood is 13-3 and Lake is 13-4. The two teams split their season series. Oak Harbor resides at 6-3 in league play, just one game back of the pack.

Oak Harbor's 4-3 win over Maumee on April 21 earned its coach, Nick Lance, his 100th career victory. The Fremont Ross alum, who is in his ninth season leading the Rockets, was an assistant for nine years under Rob Schimmoeller before taking over, and he was an assistant with the Little Giants for two years before that. Oak Harbor athletic director Justin Slauterbeck talked about Lance, who played catcher at the University of Toledo, achieving the milestone.
