The Toledo Pre-Med and Health Science Academy has only been in existence for three years. In that time, the school has sent teams the last two years to the Regional Anatomage Tournament at St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Ind. Principal Jack Hunter said the school sent six teams to the regional tournament this year. Four of the teams swept the top four spots, showcasing their knowledge of human anatomy.

Kids’ Weekend at Bass Pro Shops in Rossford brought out the hearty, outdoorsy types during Sunday’s cold snap. The two-day event was meant to teach young and old about fishing, and how to enjoy the outdoors. “It is important to get kids out fishing,” said Fred Lederer, a tournament muskie fisherman from Perrysburg and owner of Excalibur Rodworks. He has worked with Bass Pro Shops teaching people about fishing for the last 15 years.

And for some students in Start High School’s residential remodeling program, it was a homecoming of sorts. That’s because the high school students built an outdoor playground playhouse for the students at Grove Patterson. Pi or pie. The word means different things to different people. Pi, the mathematical constant π, is the ratio of the circumference of any circle to the diameter of that circle. Pi is also the sixteenth letter of the Greek alphabet. But bring up pie in Toledo, and most likely visions of the tasty desserts baked at Schmucker’s Restaurant on Reynolds Road come to mind. Each March 14, or 3/14, is celebrated as National Pi Day, a nod to the mathematical constant’s approximate value of 3.14.
