Shane van Gisbergen will lose two crew members for the next two NASCAR Cup Series races after a wheel came detached Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Jackman Asian Pugh and rear tire changer Jonpatrik Kealey will sit out the races at Darlington Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway. Jordan Ferguson and Kenyatta Houston will fill in for Pugh and Kealey, according to the NASCAR roster portal. Van Gisbergen finished 34th, six laps down.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Joey Logano ended a historic skid for a defending NASCAR Cup Series champion with his first top-10 finish of the 2025 season. Coming into Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway, Logano hadn’t scored a top-10 finish in any of the first six Cup races of 2025 — the longest a defending Cup champion has gone to start a season without a top-10 finish. The streak looked to end as Logano won the first stage, on lap 80, on a strategy call to stay out.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — High expectations soured early on for Spire Motorsports in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Carson Hocevar and Michael McDowell topped practice Saturday before they and teammate Justin Haley all qualified inside the top-8. By lap 100, all three of them had crashed with only Michael McDowell left on the track — 20 laps down. McDowell qualified seventh but had to start in the rear after took the option tires under caution for stage one, which ended on lap 60.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Christopher Bell made the right “option” to hold off teammate Denny Hamlin to win Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Bell beat Hamlin by 0.049 seconds in a thrilling overtime battle. Hamlin took the lead from Bell on the restart and nearly cleared him as he took the white flag. Bell side-drafted him back and had enough of an advantage in turn three to where he almost cleared Hamlin for the lead. Hamlin came back, trying to side-draft him again.
