Homestead-Miami Speedway to host NASCAR Championship Weekend again in 2026

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — After six years at Phoenix Raceway, NASCAR Championship Weekend will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2026. NASCAR announced Tuesday (May 6) the return of the speedway as the host of the championship with a social media announcement with past Cup Series champions Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch. The championship races will be held Nov. 6-8, NASCAR said in a press release, with the championship race weekend being rotated at other venues.
Venturini Motorsports sells ARCA team after 43 years

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — After 43 years of operations, Venturini Motorsports has sold its ARCA Menards Series team to Nitro Motorsports. Nitro Motorsports will assume full ownership of the team and continue VMS’ longstanding partnership with Toyota GAZOO Racing. This will go into effect on Oct. 15. Current team owner Billy Venturini will remain on board as general manager until the end of the 2026 season. Nitro Motorsports was founded by Nick Tucker.

Shane van Gisbergen will lose two crew members for the next two NASCAR Cup Series races after a wheel came detached Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Jackman Asian Pugh and rear tire changer Jonpatrik Kealey will sit out the races at Darlington Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway. Jordan Ferguson and Kenyatta Houston will fill in for Pugh and Kealey, according to the NASCAR roster portal. Van Gisbergen finished 34th, six laps down.

Coming into Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway, Logano hadn’t scored a top-10 finish in any of the first six Cup races of 2025 — the longest a defending Cup champion has gone to start a season without a top-10 finish. AVONDALE, Ariz. — High expectations soured early on for Spire Motorsports in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Carson Hocevar and Michael McDowell topped practice Saturday before they and teammate Justin Haley all qualified inside the top-8. By lap 100, all three of them had crashed with only Michael McDowell left on the track — 20 laps down. McDowell qualified seventh but had to start in the rear after took the option tires under caution for stage one, which ended on lap 60.

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Christopher Bell made the right “option” to hold off teammate Denny Hamlin to win Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Bell beat Hamlin by 0.049 seconds in a thrilling overtime battle. Hamlin took the lead from Bell on the restart and nearly cleared him as he took the white flag. Bell side-drafted him back and had enough of an advantage in turn three to where he almost cleared Hamlin for the lead. Hamlin came back, trying to side-draft him again.

RIDGEWAY, Va. — Short track ace Burt Myers will make his first ever start in a NASCAR Cup Series points race later this month at Martinsville Raceway. Myers will race for Team AmeriVet again March 30 in the 400-lap race at Martinsville. It’ll be the biggest track he has raced a Cup Series car at as his first time was at the quarter-mile Bowman Gray Stadium track where he gained a reputation for his short-track prowess with 11 (and counting) track championships in modified racing.

The NASCAR Cup Series will use option tires for the second time in a points race. During its debut at Richmond Raceway in August, the option tire received praise for giving teams another strategy tool to gain track position with. Daniel Suarez, for example, restarted outside of the top-20 on lap 80 of 400 at Richmond and took the lead 13 laps later.
