    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Westbound Interstate 40 is closed at Atrisco Vista due to a crash Wednesday morning, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation. Westbound I-40 is closed from mile marker 148 to mile marker 144. NMDOT is requesting you seek an alternate route and you expect “major delays.”The NMDOT camera at I-40 and Rio Puerco is showing major backups on the hill near where the crash happened.     SILVER CITY, N.M. — The Trout Fire is continuing to grow significantly, causing road closures and evacuations near Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. Here is the latest. The Trout Fire has burned an estimated 38,682 acres with no containment in the Gila National Forest near Silver City, according to an update Wednesday. That is up from 24,706 acres Tuesday and around 18,000 acres Monday. Evacuations are now in place for residents in the Cherry Creek Ranch area.

    LOS LUNAS, N.M. — A fire sparked overnight and has burned 15 acres in the Rio Grande bosque near Los Lunas. The Kid Fire is about a tenth of a mile south of the Los Lunas Bridge on the west side of the river. It is 10% contained and “holding” at 15 acres. Fire crews from Valencia County and Los Lunas are working with New Mexico State Forestry and the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District to contain fire.
