A taboo conversation with Wilfred Reilly

Wilfred Reilly is an associate professor of political science at Kentucky State University who is known for fighting dogma with data. His 2019 book Hate Crime Hoax: How the Left is Selling a Fake Race War, looked at a dataset of 409 allegedly false hate crimes and found that a substantial percentage are hoaxes, such as the Jussie Smollett case. His 2020 book Taboo: 10 Facts [You Can’t Talk About] reviews facts about race, gender, and class that have become taboo in American society.

This December marks the 30th anniversary of an unusual event, a unanimous act of Congress, which led to the legislation that established the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. Elizabeth Spalding is the chairman of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) and the founding director of the Victims of Communism Museum. She is a third-generation anticommunist who has devoted her career to scholarship and public education on the history and horrors of communism.
A Nazi Christmas Story

Our story begins on Christmas Day in 1921 at a beer hall in Munich known as the Hofbräuhaus, one of Munich’s oldest beer halls, founded in 1589—the same year the warlord Mōri Terumoto founded the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Beer halls have always played an important role in German politics. It was common for candidates to deliver speeches at such places. But they play an especially central role in the story of Adolf Hitler.

We must remember why this happened. Terrorism is not the mindless irrational mechanism some imagine it to be. This was not an unthinking rampage. Hamas meticulously planned the attack for over a year. The group’s leader Ismail Haniyeh is an educated man with a degree in Islamic literature. Mohammed Deif, one of the leaders of Hamas’s military wing al-Qassam Brigades, has a bachelor’s degree in science.
