The Recessionista

Since 2008, Mary Hall has been the voice behind The Recessionista, a blog that has captivated thousands of readers across more than 160 countries. The Recessionista is dedicated to providing advice on how to snag affordable fashion, wine, food, beauty products, and travel deals. The site features exclusive offers on women's fashion from top designers. It was created out of Mary's passion for discovering stylish women's clothing and luxury items at bargain prices—let's call them budget-friendly finds! Mary dedicated countless hours to hunting down deals on her favorite designers, from Anya Hindmarch to Burberry to Diane Von Furstenberg, as well as vintage treasures like Celia Birtwell. In 2008, she realized that her quest for affordable luxury was unique, especially during tough economic times. Her motivation to share her fashion discoveries blossomed into a blog. The Recessionista serves as a platform for her to share her savings tips and empower others to find high-quality items at lower prices. Mary loves her Anne Fontaine blouse, Chanel bag, and Roland Mouret dress, but she prefers to avoid paying full retail prices. She is always on an exciting hunt for designer deals and anything else she desires at the best possible price.

Disappointment is how I felt when I visited Mango at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles to see the Victoria Beckham x Mango in-person.   This collection had potential based on the early lookbook and marketing promotions, but at the end of the day, it’s not worth investing in at its current retail prices and sizing. Dresses in the collection are priced from  $230.00 to  $300 USD  and suit jackets are $300.00.   A transparent (unlined) black silk bias cut dress retails for $360 USD.
