Centuries of lives and love celebrated at annual luncheon

County Council and the County Office for Services to the Aging (COSA) held the 23rd annual Centenarian Luncheon on May 15, celebrating more than 50 local people age 100 or older with a party in Drexel Hill. The oldest centenarians attending were 105-year-old Arlene Delozier and 101-year-old Newton Meade. Delozier was born in 1919 in Smith Hills, Pa. She said she loved to sew and make homemade ice cream every Sunday.

Chester Mayor Stefan Roots joined city inspectors last week to tour the Banneker Apartments to determine if improvements had been made since the last inspection conducted in 2024. Leashes, figuratively speaking, aren’t only for dogs but “man’s best friend” played a big role in helping four females re-enter the community from a period of incarceration. April 22 marked the first graduation of participants in the New Leash on Life Prison Re-entry Program at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Media. The 15-year-old national program is designed to foster second chances, reduce recidivism, and save the lives of both people and dogs.
