The Verde Independent
The Verde Independent serves as the community newspaper for the people of Cottonwood, Arizona. Established in 1948 by Richard Brann, the paper's initial offices were constructed using surplus Quonset huts from World War II. These original structures were situated on a river rock foundation in Smelter City, Arizona. Over the years, the buildings have been expanded and updated, and they continue to function as the headquarters for the Verde Independent. The newspaper is released three times a week by Western News & Info.
