The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company, often referred to simply as Disney, is a large American media and entertainment corporation based in Burbank, California, at the Walt Disney Studios complex. Founded on October 16, 1923, by siblings Walt and Roy O. Disney, the company initially started as Disney Brothers Studio. Over the years, it has also been known as Walt Disney Studio and Walt Disney Productions before officially adopting the name The Walt Disney Company in 1986. From its early days, Disney became a pioneer in animation, introducing the beloved character Mickey Mouse. Mickey made his debut in the groundbreaking short film Steamboat Willie, which was notable for featuring synchronized sound, marking a significant milestone as the first cartoon with post-produced sound. Mickey Mouse ultimately became the emblem of the company.
