For some, today is just Thursday, June 26th. For Disney fans however, today is Stitch Day. The name coined by Walt Disney Studios in honor of its lovable alien mascot Stitch, who was only known as experiment 6-2-6 before he met Lilo. While the company has already commemorated the occasion by officially announcing a sequel to the live-action adaption, we at The DisInsider wanted to commemorate it by sharing a recent interview we did with the film’s composer, Dan Romer.

Today, Disney has officially announced that a sequel to hit Lilo & Stitch live-action remake is in development. Since Memorial Day weekend, Lilo & Stitch has earned more than $910 million worldwide at the box office. Initially intended for a direct-to-streaming release, this PG-rated adventure is on track to be the first billion-dollar blockbuster of the year. This impressive revenue is solely from theatrical sales.

The new miniseries Ironheart comes at the end of an era for the MCU. It is the final project of Phase 5, a phase that was relatively brief (early 2023 to now), filled with stops and starts that led to a real-time change in philosophy for the megafranchise. Some of those changes came from cultural necessity–i.e. the Jonathan Majors of it all. Others came from a self-assessment by Kevin Feige and Marvel’s brass, a shift in strategy to try and help strengthen a brand that many feel has been diluted.
