Hello! I'm Paul, a tech enthusiast and a proud new dad. I’m on a mission to simplify the often overwhelming world of parenting. Instead of predicting the future of this blog, I’ll admit that I’m unsure of where it will lead. My goal is to stick with it and not fall into one of those dreaded two-month hiatuses. The IT Baby could cover a variety of topics, from fashion to technology, or even creative ways to repurpose items to enhance our lives without unnecessary spending. So far, it’s about exploring intriguing ideas and having fun rather than just following the crowd.

We’re always juggling a million things, and teaching our kids about money is somewhere on that endless to-do list. Allowance, chores, birthday money… it all adds up. But handing over a wad of cash or even our own credit card to a pre-teen can be a little nerve-wracking.

I’ve been very … skeptical with the medicine route… this in large part is due to my reactions with any medication that involved brain functions, having been an Ambien zombie and losing solid memory of several months of my life, and near suicidal depression when put on an antidepressant in an attempt to fix my sleeping issues (which evidently were that I just was not breathing for nearly an hour a night, but not snoring.) Within 4 days my kid had started formulating plans… these initially were...

It’s been rough lately. My oldest (11) is a hoarder now among other things. She has regular meetings with a behaviorist where I believe she takes notes to later behave in a fashion that makes everyone around her lives harder. Unless we spend $240 a month on a tutoring program none of her schoolwork gets done and the program is even starting to give up on trying to make her do the work.

We’ve got a situation where our oldest is on permanent lockdown. Her phone will never unlock without an adult, and there are no plans in the foreseeable future to allow this. I’ve documented some of this on the site, but the short of it is she makes bad choices and emulates any YouTuber who “pranks” people. From the last year+ I’ve learned that both Family link and phone location are pretty much lacking.
