Originally launched as The Tumut and Adelong Times, it has since combined with several other publications, including the Adelong and Tumut Express, Batlow District News, Tumut-Batlow-Adelong District News, The Tumut Advocate, Farmers & Settlers' Adviser, and The Adelong Argus, as well as the Tumut and Gundagai Advertiser.

IT’S all happening for Tumut singer-songwriter-guitarist Jess Crossman, who has been added to the ABC Saturday Night Country Playlist, and been selected to participate in five tours across regional NSW later this year. Jess, who is also a paramedic, said that her publicist Stuart Coupe got her onto the Playlist, and for that she’s very grateful. “He’s been so great,” she said.

THERE’S a new chain of hotels opening up in Tumut, and it’s aimed at an exclusive clientele. Local Land Services, OzFish and Boys to the Bush Wagga joined forces to get a fish hotel project underway at Tumut Wetlands on Friday. Using biodegradable materials like wood and rock, they constructed shelter-like structures in the lagoon which will protect fish from predators and allow them to thrive.

MOST consider Batlow’s Col Agate a colourful character, literally and metaphorically, and it’s hard to argue with that. Col was born and raised in Sydney’s south-west, but has come to love his adopted town of Batlow, finding it a perfect place to do what he likes best, getting involved in the community and helping people. Col worked for Australia Post for 36-and-a-half years, working his way up the ladder into a management role at the depot in Sydney.

THE Tumut Blues league tag team fought back from a 12-0 deficit to force a 12-all draw with unbeaten Wagga Brothers at Twickenham on Saturday. Bronty Burkinshaw and Tarnii Price scored tries and Brooke Wiggett kicked goals for Brothers to give them the lead, but Sharlie Thomas scored and captain-coach Brigid Rhynehart converted to get Tumut back into it before half time.

THE Blues women’s tackle team battled hard against the strong Estella Storm team at Twickenham on Saturday, but the visitors scored a 26-6 win. Lock Jorja Brennan, who played for Tumbarumba in the Nines, scored first for Estella five minutes into the match and Brooke Wiggett converted for a 6-0 lead. Soon after that the Storm were in again and with nine minutes left in the first half winner Mikayla Barrett went in for the visitors’ third.
