THE Wagga Kangaroos showed why they are leading the Group competition with a 50-0 win over the Tumut Blues at Twickenham on Saturday. The Kangaroos led 18-0 at half time and well and truly went on with it in the second half. Tumut coach Jack Dean said it had been a hard lesson for the Blues, despite it being only their second loss for the season. “We were taught a hard lesson of what it’s like to be on top of Group 9,” he said.

THE Tumut Eagles are still looking for their first win of 2025 after putting in a good performance but losing 2-0 to a strong South Wagga team in the Blake Trophy match at the Bull Paddock on Sunday. Captain coach Jacob Luck was happy with the effort put in by his team. “It was not a win but I’m never going to fault the effort and heart the boys showed,” he said. With a bit more luck the result could have gone the other way.

The Tumut Blues league tag team might be injury-hit but they will be well favoured to beat Wagga Kangaroos handsomely at Twickenham tomorrow. Kangaroos are winless on the bottom of the ladder with a lop-sided for-and-against but despite this, Tumut captain-coach Brigid Rhynehart still wants her team to be at their best. “Looking at their (Kangaroos’) results we would have to be reasonably confident but we need to get back in the winner’s circle so we won’t be taking them lightly,” she said.
