    A UB study using a sample of postmenopausal women is the first to examine the association between diet quality and the oral microbiome. The research, published earlier this year in the Journal of Nutrition, reports that women who followed healthier diets had lower abundance of certain oral microbiome bacteria, including Streptococcus gordonii, which can promote gum disease, and Cardiobacterium species, which are associated with heart infections.

    Big things are happening in the Beane parking lot on the North Campus, where a bank of new electric vehicle charging stations have been installed for university-owned vehicles. The project was completed in partnership with National Grid and the New York Power Authority (NYPA). The new Level 2 and Level 3 stations will allow UB to charge up to 40 of its fleet electric vehicles at the same time.
