On Monday night, April 14th, the Alexander County Board of Education approved the hire of Kalee Peter as Alexander Central High School Head Volleyball Coach. Peter, who will be new to the high school coaching ranks was a standout collegiate player at the Division II level for multiple seasons as she played for Minnesota State University Mankato, Francis Marion University and lastly at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Lenoir-Rhyne University has selected Lenoir-Rhyne University has selected Summer McGee, Ph.D, as the institution’s 13th president. Her appointment was approved by the Lenoir-Rhyne Board of Trustees after a national search. Dr. McGee will succeed Fred Whitt, Ph.D, who served as Lenoir-Rhyne’s president since 2017. She will assume the presidency at L-R on July 1. Dr. McGee is the current president of Salem Academy & College in Winston-Salem where she has served since 2021.

Both the IRS and the North Carolina Department of Revenue are providing some relief because of the devastation Hurricane Helene caused in the state.
