CRS-31 Soars Towards the I.S.S.

This evening, November 4, 2024, a SpaceX Falcon 9 lit the night skies of the Space Coast sending the Crew Resupply (CRS) 31 mission on a trip to the International Space Station (I.S.S.). Liftoff came at 9:29 PM EST from Launch Complex 39-A during an instantaneous launch window. Shortly after launch, the previously flown first stage booster made a successful landing at LZ-1 sending a sonic boom across the area.

At 12:06 PM EDT, a SpaceX Falcon Heavy roared to life sending the Europa Clipper on a journey of 1.8 billion miles towards Jupiter and its fourth largest moon Europa. The journey will be a long one as the Europa Clipper is not scheduled to arrive at Jupiter until April 2030. To aid the spacecraft on the trip, Europa Clipper will get assistance from both Mars and Earth.

Cape Canaveral S.F.S. FL. – This morning, October 4, 2024, a United Launch Alliance (U.L.A.) Vulcan rocket lifted off from Launch Complex 41 at 7:25 AM EDT. to the delight of some early Space Coast viewers. The launch was originally scheduled for 6:00 AM; a couple of technical issues delayed the liftoff. However, it is being reported by observers as well as U.L.A. that there was a visible anomaly with one of the solid rocket motors.

Galileo Sets Sail

This evening, September 17, 2024, SpaceX used its’ Falcon 9 rocket and lofted two 700 kg global navigation satellites built by the European Space Agency (E.S.A.) for the European Union to an orbit of about 23,000 km. (14,300) miles around the Earth. Launching at 6:50 PM EDT from Complex 40, these satellites will join 25 operational Galileo constellation satellites currently in use.

Cape Canaveral S.F.S. FL. – In the pre-dawn hours of September 12, 2024, a Falcon 9 lifted off from Launch Complex 40 taking the AST SpaceMobile BlueBird Block 1 # 1-5 into orbit. Liftoff came at 4:52 AM EDT. Wedged in between bands of rain, heavy clouds from Tropical Storm Francine to the west and numerous tropical activities in the Atlantic and Caribbean, SpaceX caught a lucky break and was able to launch a Falcon 9 carrying the AST SpaceMobile BlueBird Block 1 #1-5 into a LEO (Low Earth Orbit).
Polaris Dawn Rises

Liftoff came at 6:45 AM EDT in a splendid show for the early risers in the area.
