Honorable Mention: Make It Fit - KarateKarate returned for the first time in 20 years with Make It Fit. The album was unique to say the least. Over the last 20 years, frontman Geoff Farina has been in multiple bands, jazz groups, solo ventures and duos with other artists. His style has changed over the years because the mainly because of Tinnitus, the main reason Karate broke out. Farina couldn’t play hard rock anymore, but with modern earplugs and amplifiers, Karate was able to return in 2022.

Even a damp November night couldn’t stop Auburn students from showing up to UPC’s "War Damn Coffee Jam," a night filled with free coffee, donuts and live music on Samford Lawn. However, the night's big draw was a concert by Devin Kennedy - an R&B/Alternative artist who creates very intimate and meaningful settings for his listeners within his music.

On Saturday, November 11th, the first ever Live on the Plains took place at Sistrunk Farms in Opelika, Alabama. The festival was created by the same people who created the Auburn Rodeo, with the vibes of the festival being similar. The main difference between the two is that Live on the Plains is a straight music festival with no actual Rodeo in sight. The performers came from two different fronts. Openers Hudson Westbrook, Bayker Blankenship, and Braxton Keith gave the modern country flavor.

A crisp October evening painted by a golden sunset welcomed Birmingham audiences as they entered Avondale Brewing Company to listen to up-and-coming artist, Wyatt Flores. The 23-year-old kicked off his “Welcome To The Plains” tour in October, playing hits off his debut album under the same name. Flores - who has almost 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify - started his musical journey back in 2021 with the release of his single “Travelin’ Kid” and immediately started gaining a fanbase.

I have had a soft spot for Maggie Rogers ever since I saw her open for Kacey Musgraves on the "Oh What a World IITour" in late 2019. I thought she was a captivating performer - she seemed to be in her own little world as she frolicked about the stage. Not too long afterwards, during the height of the pandemic, hers was one of about five NPR Tiny Desk Concerts on a near-constant rotation in my house. Since then, however, her music has been a little bit difficult for me to revisit.

Brown began his “In The Air” tour on March 28 in Charlottesville, VA. He is a 5-time American Music Awards (AMA) winner and was named the “future of country music” by Billboard in 2018. Kane Brown also became the first artist to lead five country charts simultaneously with his 2016 self-titled album.
