Last month, Goodyear Police Officer Dakota Berry was driving back to the city from Phoenix when he spotted the aftermath of a two-vehicle collision near 91st Avenue and Interstate 10. One of the cars was in flames, and within it was a female driver honking her horn for help. Berry sprang into action, breaking the glass of her car and pulling her out the window. The woman he saved was Asharie Cheatham, daughter of a Goodyear fire captain.

The Goodyear resident spent her childhood watching her siblings kick the ball around, and she fell in love, quickly joining club sports. It became a getaway from normal life, a reprieve that came easy to her. Twelve years later, Miyazato is now the youngest player on Desert Dreams F.C., the first Women’s Premier Soccer League in the West Valley.
