Chicago officials are offering ways to stay cool in the intense heat. The city has six cooling centers at designated community service centers. They are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. The facilities are located at Trina Davila Center on West North Avenue, South Chicago Center on South Commercial Avenue, North Area Center on West Wilson Avenue, King Center on South Cottage Grove Avenue, Garfield Center on South Kedzie Avenue, and Englewood Center on West 79th Street.

A groundbreaking ceremony is taking place at the failed Chicago Spire project, which would have been the world's tallest building. The new plan is to erect a 72-story residential building that will go up in its place near the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. The developer says there will be 635 rental homes and 20 percent of them will be affordable housing. Construction is set to be completed in 2027.
