Teens Andy Goforth and Daven Hug are being praised for helping save more than a dozen people from a fire at the Village Apartments retirement community in Nashville, Illinois. Last Wednesday evening, they noticed smoke while driving home and rushed to the scene. A Meals on Wheels volunteer in Sacramento recently rescued a man who’d been trapped in his collapsed bed for three days. Volunteer Patricia Escobar entered the home and feared the worst when she didn’t see anyone. Then she found the man on the floor in his bedroom, confused and unable to get up, and she immediately called 911. Escobar has been a volunteer for a year and says this wasn’t the first time she’d encountered emergencies during her delivery route.
