The National Weather Service is issuing a Extreme Heat Watch for the region this weekend, initially from 8 AM Saturday through 8 PM on Tuesday. Staffers at the weather service office off of Ford Airport in Grand Rapids say apparent temperatures will hover around 100, and little relief will be found at night, with lows only falling to the mid to upper 70s.

ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 20, 2025) – A decision on a new Zeeland School Superintendent was made on Thursday evening. After final public interviews were held, the Zeeland Board of Education unanimously voted to enter into contract negotiations with Rod Hetherton in order for him to be the district’s new operational leader. If a deal is reached, he would begin his new duties on July 7th, replacing Dr. Scott Korpak, who has been the school chief on an interim basis.
