World BEYOND War

World BEYOND War

World BEYOND War was established on January 1, 2014, by co-founders David Hartsough and David Swanson with the aim of creating a worldwide movement to eliminate the concept of war entirely, rather than just addressing current conflicts. The organization believes that if we truly want to end war, it must no longer be seen as a feasible solution. Just like there is no acceptable form of slavery, there is no such thing as a “justified” war. Both are unacceptable under any circumstances. So, if war cannot be the means to settle international disputes, what alternatives do we have? The core mission of WBW is to develop a global security framework grounded in international law, diplomacy, cooperation, and respect for human rights, and to protect these values through nonviolent methods instead of threats of violence. Our initiatives involve educating people to challenge common misconceptions, such as the ideas that "war is a natural part of life" or "war has always existed," while demonstrating that not only can war be abolished, but it is also achievable. Our efforts encompass various forms of nonviolent activism aimed at steering the world toward a future free from war.

By Guy Feugap, Africa Organizer, World BEYOND War, April 13, 2025French below. The year 2025 in Cameroon is an election year. In October, the presidential election is scheduled, but it is not like the previous ones: all indications point to an escalation of violence, if nothing is done to ensure a peaceful political transition. The socio-political landscape is extremely violent and characterized by an exacerbation of hatred and tribalism, including through the media and social media.

By David Swanson, World BEYOND War, April 11, 2025Approaching 50 years since the end of the American War, as the Vietnamese call it, and something over 70 years since the start of it, depending when you start the clock, truth and reconciliation remain incomplete. I don’t mean for the people of Vietnam, who seem, from what little I know, in general to have a better grasp of both truth and reconciliation than the U.S. government or corporate media.
