WSDV-FM (Sarasota, FL)

WSDV (1450 kHz) is a radio station that is owned and operated by iHeartMedia, Inc., serving the Sarasota-Bradenton area. The station originally launched on December 7, 1939, under the name WSPB, broadcasting at 250 watts on 1420 kHz from its facilities on City Island. In 1941, a frequency adjustment under NARBA changed its position to 1450 kHz. WSPB was affiliated with the CBS network and was notable for providing hourly news updates, a rare feature for stations on Florida’s west coast at that time. In 1965, WSPB-FM began broadcasting at 106.3 (now known as WRUB at 106.5), offering a full-time simulcast of the AM station. Over the years, the 1450 frequency has featured a variety of formats, including Classical Music in the 1990s and later Oldies. Additionally, it served as the Sarasota affiliate for 970 WFLA until 2002.
