WTVI-TV (Charlotte, NC)

WTVI, which broadcasts on virtual channel 42 (and VHF digital channel 9), is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The station is owned by Central Piedmont Community College. Its studios are situated in the Chantilly-Commonwealth area of east Charlotte, while its transmitter is located in Newell, a rural part of northeastern Mecklenburg County, just outside the city limits of Charlotte. Notably, WTVI is the only public television station in North Carolina that does not operate under PBS North Carolina. It is one of three PBS stations serving the Charlotte metropolitan area, alongside WUNG-TV (channel 58) in Concord and WNSC-TV (channel 30) in Rock Hill, which is part of South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV).
