After being selected from all the artists who responded to our callout last autumn, Cherry Seraph, Artists’ Child and Helen Papaioannou have all taken inspiration from the ideas and legacy of electronic music pioneer Daphne Oram.

Thanks to support from Youth Music’s Incubator fund, YSWN has been able to offer a series of paid traineeship roles to help women and people of minority gender aged 18–25 take a first step into the audio industry. Hosted by AiAI Studios, BeSound Studios, Rare Tone Mastering, PitStop Productions and Club Haus Studios, the placements have given the trainees valuable skills in everything from film sound design and podcast editing to vinyl mastering and games audio.

Artists’ ChildArtists’ Child is the solo electronic music project of performance designer Bethany Wells. A modular synth alchemist, she sculpts powerful narratively-driven journeys, moving between drone, ambient and techno, with a sonic palette of glitches, wild texture and driving rhythms. Drawing on her background in architecture and performance design, Artists’ Child creates immersive spatial worlds for audiences to enter.

YSWN has teamed up with Rare Tone Mastering & Vinyl Production to offer two paid Mastering and Vinyl Production Assistant trainee opportunities. Supported by Youth Music‘s Incubator fund, this is a positive action paid trainee opportunity aimed at women and minority gendered people aged 18-25 years old, with applications particularly welcomed from those of the global majority.
