HONOLULU, Hawai'i (Island News) -- The Maui doctor accused of trying to kill his wife pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges Monday morning. 46-year-old anesthesiologist Gerhardt Konig appeared in court virtually from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center for his arraignment. Konig is accused of trying to push his wife, 36-year-old Arielle Konig, off a popular O'ahu hiking trail, beating her head with a rock, and trying to inject her with syringes.

HONOLULU, Hawai'i (Island News) -- The number of measles cases is spiking across the continental U.S., with more than 600 infections in 22 states. While there are no reported cases in Hawai'i, health officials are urging the public to do its part in the fight against the illness. Nearby resident Anthony Goodrich witnessed the police activity at the Pukalani Street property and said there were more than a dozen law enforcement agents involved. "They had battering rams and long arm rifles and so I decided to take some video and it looked interesting," Goodrich shared.
