A.J. Minter returned to the Braves bullpen this past week and should slot right back into a set-up role along with Joe Jiménez. We talked about Dylan Lee last week and how well he had been pitching over the past two months, but Jimenez has also been great, especially over his past 14 IP (31.5% K and 36.6% CSW rates).

Tier 576. Steven Okert (MIA) – Okert is the most volatile of the Marlins left-handed relievers, but he still held an impressive 29.6% K rate. He may need injuries ahead of him to get some consistent hold chances though. 77. Ryan Borucki (PIT) – The Pirates do have some sneaky good left-handed options in this bullpen, with one of them being Borucki who held a 2.34 dERA and 0.74 WHIP this past year and despite just a 21.7% K rate, he did post an impressive 2.6% BB and 33.5% CSW rate. 78.

Evan Phillips has emerged as the Dodgers’ primary closer and all it took were a couple of shaky Brusdar Graterol appearances. The Dodgers have seemed determined to keep Phillips out of the ninth-inning role but their hand has been forced, which is great for those who drafted Phillips. Despite only one strikeout so far (he’s faced a lot of lefties to begin the season), he has yet to allow a run in four outings.

It looks like it will indeed be David Robertson as the Mets’ primary closer moving forward, and the veteran already has picked up the team’s only save this season. It does look like there could be some matchup-based opportunities though for others such as Drew Smith, Brooks Raley and Adam Ottavino here, so temper expectations, but Robertson could be a difference maker as long as the Mets believe in him and don’t go out making a trade for an established closer.

Welcome back to The Hold Up, where we’ll take a look at some relief pitchers who are worth targeting in leagues that value holds. I say it every year, but if you don’t happen to be in any leagues where holds are counted, I highly suggest you try to find one (or convince your commissioner to add them) as you are really missing out. The league is rapidly adapting to more of a closer-by-committee approach, making these leagues more relevant than ever before.
