    WAUSEON — A National Day of Prayer event will be held at Special Grounds Coffee May 1. This local event, sponsored by Sara’s Garden and local churches, coincides with the national recognition of the day. A prayer and worship program is scheduled from 7-7:30 a.m., with prayer time with worship songs. An open prayer time is then scheduled from 8 a.m.-noon for independent prayer, group prayer, prayer sheets to go, a prayer request box and prayer time with local clergy members.

    Dental Excellence will host the return of Smiles from the Heart, a community-driven event providing free dental care to those in need Friday at the Napoleon and Delta offices. The Dental Excellence team will offer one free service per patient – either a cleaning, filling or extraction – on a first-come, first-served basis to up to 100 patients in Napoleon and 50 in Delta. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. at both locations and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Earl Scott Abshire, aged 80, of Holgate, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at Henry County Hospital in Napoleon, Ohio. Born on Feb. 10, 1945, in Phyllis, Kentucky, Earl led a life characterized by dedication, service and love for his family and community. Earl was a proud graduate of Feds Creek High School in Feds Creek, Kentucky. He devoted 47 years of his working life to the Campbell Soup Co. and Silgan Container, ultimately retiring in 2010.
