The Detroit Pistons would love to have a floor spacing big man and there are potentially two of them on the free-agent market this summer in Naz Reid and Myles Turner. I’ve written about Reid since the beginning of the season and think he’d be a nice fit as a versatile big who can defend and spread the floor. Myles Turner is getting ready to head to the NBA Finals with the Pacers, but he’s the type of rim protector and 3-point shooter that every team wants, including the Pistons.

I‘ve been covering the Pistons for about six years now and fans have been talking about the possibility of Devin Booker coming to Detroit the entire time.          It does make some sense, as Booker is not only from Michigan, but is among the Pistons’ worse draft misses, so it’s a wrong fans would love to undo. I’ve written many times about the idea of Booker coming “home,” and speculation kicks up every time he plays in Detroit and puts on a Tigers hat.

The Detroit Pistons don’t need to make sweeping changes to their roster but could use a backup power forward and Jake LaRavia might be the guy. After the Grizzlies declined his team option and traded him to the Kings, LaRavia will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and named the Pistons as a preferred destination according to a recent interview with Basketball Insiders.

Much of the offseason debate around the Detroit Pistons has focused on Jaden Ivey. Many think he’s the second star the Pistons need, while others think he should be trade bait to land a more complementary and proven star. Ivey is also extension eligible, so there is ample speculation about how much the Pistons should offer if they do extend him this summer, which has been complicated by the broken leg that cost him most of this season.

When the Detroit Pistons signed Simone Fontecchio to a 2 year/$16 million contract I thought it was a steal. Fontecchio was great in 16 games for the Pistons at the end of the 2023-24 season and showed the kind of shooting from the wing they desperately needed. He hit over 42 percent of his 3-point shots and averaged over 15 points per game, so there was hope that the Pistons had gotten real value for money with his deal.
