The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the Town of Kingsville are distributing Potassium Iodide (KI) pills to residents living in the secondary zone. The area is 80 kilometres from Enrico Fermi 2 Nuclear Generating Station. This initiative is to ensure our community is prepared in the unlikely event of a nuclear emergency. All Kingsville residents are encouraged to pick up a package of KI pills. If you had previously obtained these pills, they are past their expiration date.

Windsor police have arrested a 36-year-old man related to two jewellery store robberies at Tecumseh Mall. Police say a suspect wearing a face covering entered a jewellery store inside the shopping mall in the 7600 block of Tecumseh Road East on April 4. The suspect allegedly used a tool to smash a glass display case and made off with approximately $50,000 worth of jewellery.

A Windsor man who purchased a scratch lottery ticket in Sudbury won the $100,000 top prize. Curtis Clark won with an Instant Gift Pack ticket. Instant Gift Pack was available for $20 a play and the top prize is $100,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 1.00. The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Lasalle Boulevard in Sudbury.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is investigating a collision involving a Windsor police cruiser and a cyclist. The incident took place on Alymer Avenue on Sunday. An SIU spokesperson says they are still gathering information. There is no word yet on the condition of the cyclist. The City of Windsor is adding 10 new red light cameras in the city. A red light running camera is a type of traffic enforcement camera that captures an image of a vehicle that enters an intersection in spite of the traffic signal indicating red (during red phase). The camera automatically takes two photos of the vehicle: one entering and one proceeding through the intersection. The photo is evidence that assists authorities to enforce traffic laws.

Windsor is getting a nearly $300-million investment from a Canadian automotive parts manufacturing company. Minth Group and representatives from the province and City of Windsor announced the construction of a 379,415 sq. ft. manufacturing plant on Thursday. The company said it represents phase one of a multi-building manufacturing campus located at 5000 Cabana Road East in Windsor, on approximately 54 acres of surplus land at the Windsor International Airport.

Windsor police officers have arrested a 25-year-old man after a woman was shot near downtown. Officers responded to a report of a person with a firearm at a residence in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive East shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers say when they arrived on scene, they located a female victim with a gunshot wound to an arm. The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
