A ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas has officially been brokered following more than one year after intensive negotiations between the parties. The Biden Administration has made this one of its top goals before transitioning to the Trump Administration, and now the deal has been executed and will come to fruition. The ceasefire will be done in multiple phases, with the first phase including the release of approximately 33 hostages from Hamas custody.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially ordered that the American flag be flown at full-staff during Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20th. By doing so, Abbott is bucking United States policy that requires the American flag be flown at half-staff in the 30 days following the death of a current or former President. Currently, flags are being flown at half-staff around the country following President Jimmy Carter's passing earlier this month.
