NEW YORK (WBNG) -- The Firefighters Association of the State of New York, or FASNY, is seeking volunteers to help staff departments across the state. According to the Association Secretary of FASNY John D’Alessandro, the number of people volunteering to be firefighters has been declining for decades. D’Alessandro said that in the early 2000s, there were about 120,000 volunteer firefighters, which has dropped to around 80,000 today.

NEW YORK (WBNG) -- The New York State Office of Cannabis Management, or OCM, announced new employee workforce training. The training program includes two free courses designed to protect health, promote workplace safety and support compliance with state regulations. The first course, Cannabis Product Safety and Responsibility, will include information that impacts daily operations. The second course, Cannabis Product Responsibility, will highlight workers’ rights and promote workplace safety.
