Last night, the boys varsity basketball team faced off against George C. Marshall High School, moments after the girls varsity basketball team crushed Marshall 58-27, more than doubling the Statesmen’s points. With the victorious atmosphere still lingering on the court, the boys team hoped to defy their slim 49-46 loss to Marshall just over a month ago. Things didn’t start well for McLean despite winning the tip-off.

In their inaugural season, McLean’s boys volleyball team entered the lower gym Tuesday night to play the Kellam High School Knights in the state semifinals. Hailing from Virginia Beach, the Knights entered the match with an impressive 26-1 record; the Highlanders, still undefeated, held a record of 22-0. The two Virginia powerhouses were poised for a historic match in McLean’s first-ever boys volleyball state tournament sanctioned by the Virginia High School League (VHSL).

By Aaron StarkRecently, the News-Press’s very own copy editor, Ted White, released two books, “The Amazing Editorials” and “The Fantastic Editorials.” In each, White compiles all of his editorials from 1968-1978, during which he worked as the editor of Fantastic and Amazing, both science fiction magazines that published sci-fi stories. Reflecting on his decision to publish the books, White maintains that it was made out of a passion for sci-fi and as a personal project.
