A woman who was made redundant from her job and lost her home while caring for her dying husband has described how she has finally been able to afford to replace her shoes after receiving her delayed state pension. Mandy Atkinson, 66, is one of an estimated 3.8 million Waspi (Women Against State Pension Inequality) women affected by major changes to the state pension age. Waspi campaigners say women born between 1950 and 1960 were not given adequate notice about the increase in their pension age.
