Private Equity (PE) has been notable by its absence in 2023, and the resulting M&A market was more challenging, with less pressure on buyers to close deals. Given many PE deals are supported by debt, the high cost of borrowing combined with a series of global disruptions have limited appetite. While we are not out of the woods yet, the picture is beginning to change. Certain sectors which have been quiet, such as travel, are now returning to a more normal pattern.

Interested in plants — varying from pumpkins to orchids? The Paris FFA’s fall and spring plant sales are for you. Each semester, the Paris FFA chapter has a plant sale. One class each semester — either greenhouse elective or agriculture finance — gets the opportunity to take care of the greenhouse and learn the proper ways to do so. This class contains about 20 students, taught by John Harrison. Greenhouse elective is a class open to anyone in the school.

The Paris FFA chapter has the opportunity to travel on many amazing trips to better our understanding of agriculture and learn how to be a proficient leader in our chapter. I was fortunate enough to be one of the students that was able to attend the Connect Conference. This conference was held at Camp Clements, which is the oldest state FFA camp in the nation, on Nov. 18-19, 2022. The conference was a weekend trip where sessions were held during the two days.
