The UK government has unveiled a £240 million investment aimed at encouraging people to re-enter the workforce in response to high levels of economic inactivity and a “ballooning” benefits bill. The initiative, called Get Britain Working, was revealed ahead of the upcoming budget by chancellor Rachel Reeves, who promised to “build a Britain where people who can work, will work”.

Seven in 10 managers admit struggling to manage younger workers, but the same percentage prefer working with this age group thanks to their creativity and adaptability, research has found. A HiBob study of 2,000 working people – 65 per cent of whom were managers – found managers felt creativity and adaptability were lacking in older workers, yet a quarter (25 per cent) would replace a Gen Z employee with a worker from another age group if they could.
