Senior forward Reggie Hill was just eight-years-old when he started playing basketball. However, Hill first started playing in football and later fell in love with basketball. “It was a process and then I just kept playing and I grew to love it a lot more as I began to progress in the sport,” Hill said. While growing up and competing through high school level, Hill moved around, but never lost his drive to play basketball.

It is March. For all the college basketball fans out there, it is the most coveted time of the year — March Madness. It is time to break out those brackets and start filling them out. Midwestern State men’s basketball is once again headed to the Lone Star Conference tournament in hopes of making it to the NCAA National Championship. Head coach Justin Leslie says the main goal of any college basketball team is to make the tournament and ultimately win it.

Our Blood Institute has been experiencing an emergency blood shortage. Due to the extreme winter and seasonal illnesses, the blood supply not only in Wichita Falls but around the nation has taken a significant toll. While it is a major problem now, the problem actually began around the time of COVID-19. With regular donors and new donors getting sick they were not able to give blood.

Mustangs fans have a new way to watch all of their favorite teams. The Lone Star Conference announced on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 that the conference would be entering a five-year streaming service contract with FloSports. FloSports is a global independent sports media streaming company that streams live events, award-winning original content, social experiences and on-demand content. FloSports brings fans content for more than 25 different sports.

Sheppard Air Force Base and MSU have partnered on a Military Education and Student Success Center to both further the success of MSU students and provide those who serve our country with a one-stop shop to give them the ability to earn a degree. MSU president Haynie said she has had a goal of strengthening the ties between the base, the university and the Wichita Falls community since she first stepped into office at MSU.

Mustangs Motorsports is a nonprofit organization at MSU that allows students from any major to join and work on building a Formula-1 race car that will be taken to competition. The organization was established in 2021 and was named Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE). Mechanical engineering senior Nathaniel Joseph, spoke on the rebranding of the organization from the FSAE name to Mustangs Motorsports.

After 17 seasons of coaching under former head football coach Bill Maskill, Rich Renner is stepping up to the plate, the sideline, as the new head coach to lead the Mustangs to a winning season. At the end of the 2023 season Maskill announced his retirement from coaching football after 22 seasons and Renner was offered the job of becoming the head of the team. In the offseason, the coaching staff added 80 new players to the team.

A large part of the Hogans’ assets is in real estate holdings across Maryland. Hogan reported a total of $542,000 in honoraria payments and earned income. The former governor made $157,000 from multiple speaking engagements, including $52,000 he earned from speaking engagements after he launched his Senate campaign.
